Anime Worth Watching - Summer 2014

We really love anime! The main goal we set when we first started this site was to work hard to create a fantastic online community of people that appreciate and cherish everything this art form could provide. We figured that one of the best things about any community is the ability to share our interests with you guys in hopes that you might appreciate the anime we suggest as much as we did. So lets get to it! here are some anime that we liked from Summer 2014 (we will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible!)

Sword Art Online II

Let’s start with one of the most obvious choices. I had mixed feelings about the first season (the first arc was really good, but the second arc in ALO felt forced) so I was a little skeptical to begin watching again. The change in setting made me feel like it wouldn't work at all. Still, i gave it a try and I am so happy I did. SAO II is really good!

And good news: Kirito is so much more interesting, now! I liked Kirito in the first season; he was cool, calm, and collected (for the most part). The thing that made him so much better this season is that he showed weakness and doubt. I liked it so much because it made him so much more awesome, the fact he was worried and stressed yet faced his problems to the best of his abilities made him one of my favorite characters in anime.

Now let’s talk about Sinon! I love her so much. She is a great character because she knows her weaknesses yet she continues to try and improve herself as much as possible. She admires Kirito and recognizes his strength, but she moves forward on her own to help. Plus how she's an awesome sniper.

Baby Steps

Baby steps started last season and just ended their first season. This anime focuses on Eiichiro Maruo, a high school student that has an incredible work ethic. (he writes everything down and does his best to understand it) He discovers tennis and completely falls in love with it! He starts devoting more and more time to it and soon that is his main focus. He gets really good due to all his training and work ethics and he decides puts all his energy into tennis. The anime revolves around him and his growth as a tennis player!

Baby Steps is really good because it shows that hard work and perseverance is the most important thing in being really great at whatever you decide to do. Talents and natural skills, like height or strength in the case of tennis, always help but what separates the good from the great is the amount of work they decide to put into it. Its a really good lesson to learn and this anime tells it really well. It’s funny and intense at the same time; they even manage to add a little romantic tension in it and it works really great! I can’t wait for the second season!

Akame Ga Kill!

Another one I'm really enjoying is Akame ga Kill! It’s about a boy that gets into the Capital with an innocent outlook on life, only to discover the corruption and evil of the citizens there. He joins an assassin organization to overrule the current leadership and replace it with a better system for all the citizens, not just the one’s in power!

Akame ga Kill is awesome: It has action, drama, and comedy all neatly packed into a near perfect show. The main character is a bit of a downer but he, and the rest of the cast, are all very interesting and funny. The action scenes are great and the story seems to be picking up well enough. Even the “bad guys” are great, making you want to root for them, as well. Esdeath is a perfect example, she is kinda crazy and scary but at the same time you have to love that all she really desires is to fall in love. It’s cute and funny at the same time. Definitely check this show out guys, you will love it!

Another great sport anime that carried over from the last season. This one focuses on  a high school volleyball team. Specifically, it follows Shouyou, a kid that fell in love with volleyball after watching the “Little Giant” play on TV. After that he dedicated all his time and energy into training his body to be able to “fly” and spike the ball against all his opponents, despite his short stature! I love this show because Shouyou is a great character but what really brings the whole thing together is the energy and feeling you get when he plays with his whole team! I love this anime for the same reasons as Baby Steps but it also adds the notion of trust in your teammates and the fact that they will always be there to support you.

Well there you guys have it. I know this list is fairly small but I just wanted to focus on the anime shows I’m really into at the moment. This doesnt mean that i dont enjoy other animes currently airing, it’s just what peaked my fancy at the time and the ones I would like to share with you guys!

We would love to hear your opinions as well! If you guys share my passion with my choices let us hear why! If there is a specific show you guys are obsessing and would love to share with others do so as well! All you have to do is write to us at and we will love to hear your viewpoints and your suggestions!
